        Day 3

  1.     Hot, all you can eat, full breakfast buffet at hotel!

  2.     Review your homebound departure day pick up procedures and get your Blue Sky Adventures “give-a-ways and tips” to make your trek even better.

  3.     6:30 AM departure on the Blue Sky Express Shuttle with arrival at Philmont by 10:00 AM.


        Departure Day

  1.     7:30 AM pick up at Philmont and transport to Albuquerque International Airport on the Blue Sky Express Shuttle.

  2.     Bag lunch at the airport- it is a very tasty sandwich that you don’t have to mix with water!

   Day 1

  1.     Afternoon arrival at the Albuquerque Airport.

  2.     Transport to the Marriott Pyramid hotel in Albuquerque and check in to your rooms.

  3.     Spend the afternoon poolside or in the game room or play board games, ping pong, or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the Country---this is some Scout trip!

  4.     Have a bite to eat at a number of popular restaurant choices within walking distance.

  5.     Pick up those last minute items you need at Target, Lowes, Walgreens, and others, all of which are within easy walking distance of the hotel.

  6.     Dinner at the hotel is good food and lots of it!  An “all you can eat” buffet with soft serve ice cream and all the toppings for dessert!


        Day 2

  1.     Hot, all you can eat, full breakfast buffet at hotel-waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, Danish, juice, cereal, fresh fruit and more!

  2.     Early morning rendezvous with your Blue Sky Adventures professional tour guide at the hotel. Get your custom Blue Sky Adventures Nalgene water bottle!

  3.     Your tour guide will be with you all day to make sure everything is fun and happens as it is supposed to and will bring New Mexico “alive” with stories of local legends, history and culture. Your tour guide is the difference maker on a Blue Sky tour compared to anything you can do yourself or any other tour you have been on!

  4.     Your choice of Acoma Pueblo or Tent Rocks

  1.     After your visit to Acoma or Tent Rocks, take a trip to the top of Sandia Peak; a breath taking ride on the worlds longest aerial cable car to the 11,000 foot mountain peak.

  2.     At the summit of Sandia Peak, we will hike about a mile along the mountain ridge to the “Stone Hut” built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This is a fantastic hike with unparalleled vistas of the Rio Grande Valley and it provides a great way to quickly acclimate to the affects of higher elevations. What a great way to help get ready for the rigors of your Philmont trek!

  3.     Dinner is good food and lots of it!  An “all you can eat” buffet!

  4.     Return to the beautiful Marriott Pyramid hotel in Albuquerque (indoor/outdoor pool, two hot tubs, gift shop, computer center, fitness center, game room, ping pong, basketball, and board games) where the fun doesn’t stop!

  5.     Spend the evening pool side, in the exercise room, in the game room, in the computer room or play board games, ping pong or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the country---this is some Scout trip!

  1.     Depart hotel and head to the Albuquerque volcano fields. Hike up to the top of an actual volcano cinder cone! Learn about the formation of the Rio Grande and the Indian belief that their ancestors sprung from the earth through these volcanoes.   

  2.     Head out to Acoma Pueblo “Sky City”. Perched on a 400 foot mesa this 1,200 year old Native American village is rich with legends of battles won and lost, interesting stories and artifacts and unbelievable scenery. At the end of the tour (given by a Native American) we will hike down the original trail through a crack in the rocks which was the only way up for 900 years!

  3.     Time for a break with snacks and cold drinks for all!

  4.     Lunch at Blake’s Lotta’ Burger, a tasty New Mexico tradition. Try the green Chile cheeseburger with a milkshake-it’s a local favorite!

  1.     Head out to Tent Rocks and experience Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument located on the Cochiti Pueblo, home of the Cochiti Indian tribe.  You will hike through a slot canyon surrounded by cone shaped volcanic formations that resemble tee pee tents and other spectacular geological formations. The trail climbs over 600 feet to a mesa offering excellent views of the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez, and Sandia mountain ranges.  This is a real hands on Scout activity!

  2.     Time for a break with snacks and cold drinks for all!

  3.     Lunch at Blake’s Lotta’ Burger, a tasty New Mexico tradition. Try the green Chile cheeseburger with a milkshake-it’s a local favorite!

  4.     A visit to the National Atomic Museum. Learn about the Manhattan Project and see replicas of the bombs that ended World War II. See the plane that dropped the bomb and climb into the control tower of the first nuclear submarine. This is a cool place for sure!!
