• Hold on tight for whitewater rafting on the “Racecourse” section of the Rio Grande River! Conditions permitting, scouts will raft in one and two man rubber “fun yaks”
• After rafting it’s time for snacks and cold drinks for all!
• Check in to Taos hotel (pool, hot tub, mountain gazing)
• Dinner at Guadalajara Grill in Taos, New Mexico. It is “THE” local spot in Taos for good food!
• Evening spent pool side at the hotel or walk to the Taos movie theatre, a half block away, or do some last minute shopping at Wal-Mart just down the street.
Day 3
• Hot, full breakfast at hotel
• An exhilarating and unforgettable mountain biking experience on the west rim of the Rio Grande Gorge, New Mexico’s version of the Grand Canyon. It’s a 12 mile down hill run to the Rio Grande River—it’s not hard but it is a blast!
• Deli style sandwiches for lunch on the banks of the Rio Grande River.
• A walking tour of historic Taos Pueblo, a 900 year old Native American village and Taos Plaza, soul of the southwest and home of Kit Carson, famous Indian fighter and guide.
• Visit Taos Pueblo, a thousand year old Native American village rich with legends of battles won and lost, interesting stories, artifacts, and unbelievable scenery.
• Pool side pizza party.
• Evening spent pool side at hotel.
Day 4
• Hot, full breakfast at hotel
• Transport to Philmont for arrival by 9:30 a.m.
• En route to Philmont, visit the awe inspiring Vietnam War Memorial in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This is a once in a life time experience for Scouts and Advisors alike.
Departure Day
• 7:30 AM pick up at Philmont and transport to Albuquerque International Airport on the Blue Sky Express Shuttle.
• Bag lunch at the airport- it is a very tasty sandwich that you don’t have to mix with water!
• Trip to the top of Sandia Peak; a breath taking ride on the worlds longest aerial cable car to the 11,000 foot mountain peak
• At the summit of Sandia Peak, we will hike about a mile along the mountain ridge to the “Stone Hut” built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This is a fantastic hike with unparalleled vistas of the Rio Grande Valley and it provides a great way to quickly acclimate to the affects of higher elevations. What a great way to help get ready for the rigors of your Philmont trek!
• Check in to the beautiful Marriott Pyramid hotel in Albuquerque (indoor/outdoor pool, two hot tubs, gift shop, computer center, fitness center, game room, ping pong, basketball, and board games) where the fun doesn’t stop!
• Dinner is good food and lots of it! An “all you can eat” buffet with soft serve and all the toppings for dessert!
• Spend the evening pool side, in the exercise room, in the game room, in the computer room or play board games, ping pong or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the country---this is some Scout trip!
Day 2
• Hot, delicious, all you can eat, full breakfast buffet at hotel-waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, Danish, cereal, juice, fresh fruit and more!
• Checkout of the Marriott Pyramid Hotel. Tonight, we stay in Taos, New Mexico!
• Rendezvous with your tour guide at the hotel. Your tour guide will again be with you all day and will give you an in depth look at the history, culture, wonders and beauty of New Mexico.
• Experience ancient Native American culture first hand as you hike along the trail in the Tsankawi Ruins (sah-kah-WEE) are of Bandelier National Monument. An ancient, undisturbed Indian Village, cliff dwellings and petroglyphs. This is a truly unique experience! *
• Box lunch at scenic Bandelier.
Day 1
• Mid morning rendezvous with your Blue Sky Adventures professional tour guide at the Albuquerque International airport. We will be waiting for you when you walk off the plane and on your way within 45 minutes of arrival with your custom Blue Sky Adventures Nalgene water bottle in hand and filled with chilled water!
• Your tour guide will be with you all day to make sure everything is fun and happens as it is supposed to and will bring New Mexico “alive” with stories of local legends, history and culture. Your tour guide is the difference maker on a Blue Sky tour compared to anything you can do yourself or any other tour you have been on!
• Lunch at Blake’s Lotta’ Burger, a tasty New Mexico tradition. Try the green Chile cheeseburger with a milkshake - it’s a local favorite!
• A visit to the National Atomic Museum. Learn about the Manhattan Project and see replicas of the bombs that ended World War II. See the plane that dropped the bomb and climb into the control tower of the first nuclear submarine. This is a cool place for sure!!
• A visit to historic Old Town Albuquerque, established in 1706 and the heart of the Wild West in its day. See Native American artists at work, walk through the historic Plaza which has been under the rule of 5 different countries and poke around in the local stores and historic and cultural sites. This is a real taste of the Southwest!
• Time for a break with snacks and cold drinks for all!

* Tsankawi Ruins based on availability which may be impacted by weather conditions, road closure, group visitation limits and other reasons. Substitute venues to be determined by Blue Sky Adventures and may include Tent Rocks, other sections of Bandelier, Puye Cliff Dwellings, and other venues.
Note—the full day one itinerary is based on arrival in Albuquerque by 11:30 a.m. The itinerary will be adjusted for later arrivals as follows:
• Arrivals between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. -- your choice of a visit to the Atomic Museum or Old Town. Time does not allow for both Atomic and Old Town
• Arrivals after 1:00 p.m. -- Eat lunch before you arrive in Albuquerque. Upon arrival, we will only have time for the Sandia Tram and Stone Hut hike
