Where is Northern Tier? How far to the airport?
Northern Tier is located near Ely, MN more than 270 miles from the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. The drive takes about 5 hours.
How much does it cost to go to Northern Tier?
A rough rule of thumb is that the actual Northern Tier fee is about one-third of your overall budget. The balance is spent on airfare, ground transportation, meals, tour and sightseeing expenses, crew gear and training. Total trip expenses for a typical group range from $1,500-$2,500 per person.
Where do we store items we don’t bring on the trail?
Northern Tier provides each crew with a 2’x2′ locker at base camp. This locker must fit all of your crew’s gear that is not going on the trail. We recommend packing only a small day pack with what you need for the time between when you land to when you arrive at Northern Tier. Crews must also provide a lock for the locker.
What time should my flight depart Minneapolis?
For groups leaving Ely, flights must depart after 3:00pm. For groups leaving Atikokan, flights must leave after 5:00 PM
Where do we stay?
For Deluxe Adventure, Groups will stay in the Embassy Suites. Within minutes you can walk to the light rail and be connected the airport, Mall of America and more! At end of the day, relax in a spacious two-room suite with separate living and sleeping areas, and two flat-screen TVs. While at the hotel, enjoy the pool and hot tub!
