Deluxe Itinerary

Day One

  • Rendezvous with your Blue Sky Adventures tour guide at the Albuquerque Sunport airport or train station


  • Lunch at Blakes Lotta’ Burger, a tasty New Mexico tradition. Try the green chile cheeseburger -it’s a local favorite!


  • Experience the Manhattan Project and learn about it’s secret cities and scientists; see “Fat Man” and “Little Boy” nuclear bombs from World War II at the National Atomic Bomb Museum

  • Walking tour of lively, historic Old Town Albuquerque, established in 1706 and the heart of the wild west in it’s day (stores, street entertainers, historic and cultural sites, native American artists)



  • Trip to the top of Sandia Peak; a breath taking ride on the worlds longest aerial tramway to the 10,400 foot mountain peak

  • At the summit of Sandia Peak, we will hike about a mile along the mountain ridge to the “Stone Hut” built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This is a fantastic hike with unparalleled vistas of the Rio Grande Valley and it provides a great way to quickly acclimate to the affects of higher elevations

  • Dinner is good food and lots of it---an “all you can eat” buffet with a Southwest theme!

  • Check in to the beautiful Marriott Pyramid hotel in Albuquerque (indoor/outdoor pool, two hot tubs, gift shop, fitness center, game room) where the fun doesn’t stop!

  • Spend the evening pool side or in the game room or play board games, ping pong or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the country---this is some Scout trip!
Day Two
  • Hot breakfast buffet at hotel-all you can eat!
  • Transport to Philmont for arrival by 10:30am or Double H Ranch by 9:30am
Last Day
  • Early morning pick up at Philmont or Double H Ranch
  • Transport to Albuquerque Sunport airport or train station
  • Box lunch en route




High Adventure Itinerary

Day One

  • Early departure for Bandelier National Monument
    ---climb into actual, ancient Indian cliff dwellings and climb 140’ up the canyon wall to the Ceremonial Cave; see the Bat Cave, summer home to over 10,000 bats




  • Box lunch at scenic Bandelier. We eat by Frijoles creek under the shady cottonwoods.





  • Whitewater rafting on the “Racecourse” section of the Rio Grande River. Conditions and group size permitting, scouts will raft in two man rubber “funyaks”





  • Dinner at an all you can eat American buffet!
  • Return to hotel in Albuquerque where the fun doesn’t stop
  • Spend the evening pool side or in the game room or play board games, ping pong or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the country---this is some Scout trip!



Day Three
  • Hot breakfast buffet at hotel-all you can eat!
  • Transport to Philmont for arrival by 10:30am
Last Day
  • Early morning pick up at Philmont
  • Transport to Albuquerque Sunport airport
  • Box lunch en route

  • Dinner at Michaels in Taos, New Mexico. It is “THE” local spot in Taos for good food!
  • Evening spent pool side at the hotel or walk to the Taos movie theatre, a half block away



Day Three

  • Hot breakfast buffet at hotel

  • An exhilarating and unforgettable mountain biking experience on the west rim of the Rio Grande Gorge, New Mexico’s version of the Grand Canyon. It’s a 12 mile down hill run to the Rio Grande River—it’s not hard but it is a blast!


  • Riverside deli style sandwich lunch

  • A walking tour of historic Taos, home of Kit Carson, famous Indian fighter and guide

  • Pool side pizza party
  • Evening spent pool side at hotel


Day Four
  • Hot breakfast buffet at hotel
  • Transport to Philmont for arrival before lunch
  • En route to Philmont, visit the awe inspiring Viet Nam War Memorial in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This is a once in a life time experience for Scouts and Advisors alike.
Last Day
  • Early morning pick up at Philmont
  • Transport to Albuquerque Sunport airport
  • Box lunch en route
