Note: the Day One itinerary is based on arrival in Minneapolis after 2:00 PM. Early arrivals should budget for lunch and should consider a visit to Historic Fort Snelling, a trip to downtown Minneapolis, or a trip to the amazing amusement park located inside the Mall of America. Both downtown and Mall of America are accessible via the Light Rail. Your Blue Sky Adventures tour guide will review various options with you when you land in Minneapolis and will stay with you throughout the day so that everything goes smoothly.

When you go through Blue Sky Adventures, you’re met with many accommodations and benefits. Such as the opportunity to:

  • Stay in accommodations that you know are nice, safe, and in a good area of town. Treat yourself and make your overnight stay something special.
  • Be with other Scouts from all over the country going to Northern Tier.
  • Be with experts in scout travel, Blue Sky Adventures, and have confidence that all reservations will be as promised. We are dependable, reliable and very experienced. We are also there to support you when problems occur like lost luggage and participants who need medical attention while traveling.
  • Our program is all-inclusive—your fee to us includes all transportation, taxes, gratuities, meals and accommodations as specified. You only deal with us to confirm your trip and have no worries and no surprises.

We see disasters everyday that happen to groups that set the trip up themselves only to find out they didn’t consider all the costs nor did they truly understand what they were getting. Here are some examples of things that usually go wrong—

  • Hotel not in a safe area of town and scouts spread out in rooms all over the hotel. Hotel does not provide security. Nowhere close by to eat dinner.
  • Hotel rooms not ready upon arrival if arriving earlier than 3:00 PM.
  • Nothing to do at the hotel and Scouts get bored and behavior problems occur —remember, the pool is only good for an hour or two!
  • Out of pocket cost usually way underestimated.
  • Vehicle does not show up on time for airport pick up or transport to and from the High Adventure base. Every year we see several groups get stuck when the vehicle doesn’t show up to pick them up! We also see groups sitting in the airport for hours waiting for the hotel shuttle or the bus company hired to pick them up — that’s no way to start your trip, and is no fun at all!
  • Cost of hotel more than anticipated when taxes and extra occupant charges are added.
